It all started for us way back when in historic Downtown Hillsborough, and we have a true passion for our town. Surrounded everywhere you look by natural beauty, American history, and a vibrant arts & culture scene, our pub’s here to welcome you into our amazing community— whether you’re a local or just passing through. We’ve been a neighborhood gathering place for over 20 years, serving up some of the best food, beers & colorful characters you’re ever likely to find!

We weren’t going to open another Nickel in just any old place, and we found our second home in Downtown Mebane, smack in the center of a burgeoning downtown scene. All of our neighbors are super cool too, all local small businesses offering retail, hangout spots, dining and much more. We find the best way to experience Mebane is to wander around town a bit first, and then let our badass crew take care of ya once you get hungry & thirsty!

Our FARM
We’re not farmers by trade, we’re farmers by choice. Wooden Nickel Farms was born from our passion to serve y’all the tastiest burger we conjure, and eventually that meant starting our own farm that! We raise cattle, pigs & egg-laying chickens, all of which feature heavily throughout our menu. Our animals are entirely pasture-raised on 60 acres of former tobacco land, which we’re slowly re-generating for future NC farmers
Our commitment
Little details matter to us in a big way. We take great care to source and serve the best products we can find, having worked with local artisans and craftspeople since day one to build this pub from the ground up. It takes a village, as they say. From the tables upon which you sit to the stuff in the glasses that you’ll sip, great care has gone into making your experience lasting and unique. Hospitality means everything at the Nickel, and we couldn’t be more proud to be doing what we do with the best dang crew in the multiverse!
